My ambition has always been to have a sea-going career but after a few years I had to stop my sailors job, this because of family reasons. I then studies at the graphic arts school, graduated and joined a aerial photography company, mainly taking photographs of ships and maritime scenes. It makes me proud that many of the pictures I took are still being used by the maritime enthusiasts. After I retired I returned to my great hobby, making aquarelles and drawings. I have always been an individual who wants to see the world, I lived for over 20 years in Italy, a few years in France and before my wife and I decided enjoy the tropical warmth of the Far East, seven years in Spain. I dare say that the years I have spend abroad have an influence of my art. Pieter Brueghel, one of my favorite painters, is a great example for me and some of my aquarelles and drawings follow his line of seeing the live of the peasants in the 17th century. As a Dutchman I enjoy depicting a farmers scene of the low lands. Born in Amsterdam, street scenes of that city are one of the topics I draw often, and of course works of yesteryears ships. I maintain good contacts with shipping companies and some my works are brighten the walls of their offices.
