At the bottom of the painting, glowing lights can be seen through the branches, these are the streetlights glowing behind. Their yellowish light adds warmth to the composition. The painting juxtaposes the organic, free-rising forms of the tree branches with the rigid, geometric structure of the building, emphasising the coexistence of nature and urbanisation. The general aspiration of the branches towards the sky epitomises the anticipation and hope that many people experience in springtime. The impressionistic style and expressive strokes create a sense of movement and vibrancy. The painting can be hung on the wall without a frame, as the image is continued on the ends.
