The painting presents a view of the quiet Loire River on a May evening near the town of Chinon. The Loire Valley in these places is a very endless series of magnificent landscapes, which are often complemented by views of wonderful castles. The author took a small car tour along the river valley with his wife, moving from castle to castle. There was a stopover at Chinon for the night, which made it possible to take a leisurely stroll along the coast, admire its view, and enjoy the feeling of peace and quiet. At that moment, the sky seemed to have gathered the most sensual, delicate part of the color palette. The clouds turned into bizarre shades that mixed and alternated with each other. And this play of colors and shapes was reflected in the calm surface of the water, creating its own patterns. This evening silence, the warm air, the smooth flow of the river and the combination of celestial and river shades gave the river a kind of almost lively tenderness, which impressed the author, and he decided to show it on canvas. This work continues the series ”Rivers and Lakes”, giving another representation of the author’s vision of water surfaces as natural artists. The painting can be hung on the wall without a frame, the image continues at the ends.
