A lakeside landscape in the mountains of Serbia on a day when the sky is overcast, yet the sun breaks through the gaps between the clouds. The reflections of the clouds on the water, their shadows, the sun’s glare, and the reflection of the mountain slopes—all of this creates a landscape of its own on the water’s surface. The artist invites the viewer to share in the quiet delight of observing this scene. A light breeze adds its own brushstrokes of silvery tones. And this ever-changing scene is framed by picturesque mountain slopes, drawing the eye farther and farther away. The painting is executed in an Impressionist style; it continues the “Rivers and Lakes” series. The image extends onto the edges on all sides, which adds a sense of depth and allows the painting to be displayed without a frame.
