The painting depicts a landscape in the Abramtsevo estate in the Moscow region, where the author went for plein air. It is a simple scene, but that is why he wanted to capture it. The Vorya River here is quiet and still shrouded in summer greenery. The trees on the far bank are mostly birches, their vertical rhythm breaking up the wall of foliage. The artist tried to do most of the work with a brush - thick, loose strokes to catch the play of light on the leaves and their reflection in the water. The sky that day was cloudy, constantly changing. It was covered with a patina of clouds, light or quite thick, but not threatening. The author tried to reproduce the natural palette as it is - light without overpowering it, letting the surface texture carry some of the energy. Special attention was paid to the reflection in the water. It is interrupted by spots of ripples on the water as well as aquatic vegetation. There are even a few lilies that sparkle on the water like little stars. The scene attracted by its peace, nothing dominates it; everything is in balance - trees, water, sky - just together formed a composition, creating a special harmony. The work is referred to the author’s series of paintings ‘Rivers and Lakes’.
