Spring evening in Beaulieu-sur-Dordogne Pictorial art 4 / 20 4

vvswan68 – Spring evening in Beaulieu-sur-Dordogne
This painting depicts a small, serene town in the interior of France, Beaulieu-sur-Dordogne, illuminated by the soft evening light. The early spring has just awakened the trees, and young leaves have begun to appear on them. This fresh greenery creates a sense of gentle haze.
In the foreground of the painting is the calm Dordogne River, in the smoothness of which buildings, trees and the sky overhead are reflected. Their reflection is slightly blurred by light ripples on the water, which creates an atmosphere of easy movement of nature, cautious, quiet.
On the opposite shore is a charming cluster of buildings with red-brown tiled roofs and beige walls, reminiscent of a medieval settlement. From this spot it’s not easy to spot signs of the twenty-first century. One feels truly in the past.
In the background there is lush vegetation on the hills and trees that seem to frame the scene without depriving it of depth. Overhanging tree branches with leaves overhanging the shore create a natural frame at the top of the painting, drawing the viewer’s attention to the centre where the reflection of the church can be seen.
The sky is bright and expansive, still blue, contrasting with the earthy colours of the village and the vibrant greens of the landscape. But light shades of violet are already visible in the reflection in the water.
In places detailed and in places loose brushstrokes, characteristics of realist and impressionist techniques, are used to give the painting a lively and dynamic texture.
The painting radiates peace and harmony and invites the viewer to share in the beauty of the coming sunset.
The work is ready to be hung on the wall without a frame as the image transitions to the ends.
