In this work, the author uses a skeletal leaf as a rich visual metaphor for fate—a delicate, intertwined network that is both vulnerable and inevitable. The veins are crafted by hand with texture paste and then coated with epoxy resin, creating glossy, transparent, and semi-transparent areas that emphasize the depth of the design and relief. The transparent structure of the veins acts as a map: it captures traces of lived experiences, leaves space for interpretation, and invites the viewer to look ”through” the surface at what is usually hidden from sight. The leaf is modeled into a three-dimensional form, imitating the natural structure of the environment with protrusions and irregularities; it is securely attached to the surface of the painting and rises above the canvas, creating an expressive relief accent. The background is painted with acrylics in a gradient of warm brown tones. The edges of the canvas are painted in coordinating colors, making the artwork neat from all angles. The warm earth palette and concentric lighting of the background create a sense of the circle of time—from birth to decay and back—while soft transitions of light and shadow highlight both the fragility and persistence of the form. Where the flesh of the leaf has vanished, the outline of events and choices remains, tracing the lines along which life flows. The work balances between the pressure of time and the eternity of the image: death and rebirth, loss and memory, chance and inevitability transform into a unified visual language. The glossy, semi-transparent areas of epoxy resin on the leaves contrast with the matte texture of the acrylic background, enhancing the sense of volume and texture. ”Through Time” offers not a ready-made interpretation of fate but a space for personal reading—inviting the viewer to connect with their own web of memories and hopes.
